Welcome!

Welcome to Garcia Mental Health, LLC! My name is Rene and I’m here to support you.

Seeking help for mental health issues can be tough, and if you’re reading this, I want to congratulate you for doing the extra effort in taking care of yourself.

My type of support focuses on you, 100%! I am here to listen, support, engage, and ask you questions that we can both work towards answers, together. To assume one treatment plan works for everyone is just not true. In working with me, a specialized plan will be developed within our first few sessions, so you know what to expect as well as give us a baseline to make adjustments as we go.

Send me a private message, or call, so we can schedule our first initial assessment. And, while you’re here, look around my site for some great public information on mental health.

About Rene

I was born and raised in Houston, TX where my family continues to reside. There, my interests included music, playing trombone for many years, as well as being involved with various clubs on campus such as cultural groups and peer assistant groups. I have a daughter and enjoy spending as much time with her as possible. If I’m not riding my bicycle you can usually find me either reading, watching the latest super hero movies, or convincing my daughter of the greatness of Star Wars.

Education:

  • 2008: BA from the University of North Texas, majoring in Sociology
  • 2012: MS from Our Lady of the Lake University, majoring in Psychology

Licenses: (all in good standing with the state of Texas)

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (#70420)
  • Marriage and Family Therapist (#201956)
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (#11850)

Professional Experience:

I have been working full time as a professional clinician since August of 2012, but began internships and developing my professional therapy skills since July 2010. I have experience in both outpatient and inpatient treatment facilities, as well as completed a two year practicum at a community clinic seeing individuals, couples, and families.

If you were to ask me my specialty areas, I would say substance abuse, depression, working with “failure to launch” clients (18-28), families, and couples.

Areas I would refer to other clinicians would be children under 18, geriatric clients, and clients with severe forms of psychosis and/or low cognitive functioning.  I would be happy to assist in finding the appropriate referral if you would allow me.
